Looking to adopt a standard poodle
by: King family

Hello Poodle people.

We are currently researching dog breeds and are very interested in the standard poodle for it's temperament, trainability, athletic abilities, health, water loving and retrieving qualities, and family orientation. We have owned lifelong dogs (sheltie, German shepherd dog, and border collies) and have competed in AKC obedience trials and my 12 year old son now would like a dog who can be used for retrieving as well as obedience and agility, as well as be family orientated. Our goal is to have a happy and smart working dog with sound temperament and structure.

Our home now has 2 old border collies, a cat, a rabbit, chickens, and we have a 6 foot fenced yard on an acre lot. Our dogs (and cat) have indoor and outdoor access through doggie doors, heated water bowls and mats for winter, quality food and vet care, training and fun family activities (we like to hike, camp, walk along the river/ditches), and all our animals are considered part of our family. My husband is a high school teacher (off for summers and all holidays) and I work as a part time fish and wildlife biologist (so plenty of time home for a new addition to our family).

Please email us with any information about standard poodle adoptions. We would prefer a younger female dog.

Thanks much,
King Family

White Standard Poodle needs home.
by: Ann Beaubouef

I recently rescued a Standard Poodle. He was dumped in the middle of no where and when we found him he weighed 26lbs. He is now a healthy 52lbs, neutered, and heartworm negative. I desperately need to find a suitable home for him. I own 3 corgis that are senior citizens and a border collie that is a seizure patient. On top of all of that I am an ICU nurse and have a pretty full plate. "Louie" is in need of more attention than I can give. He is great with all animals, people, cats, horses, cows, you name it he loves it. He is great to brush, bathe, clip, as long as you are spending time with him he is happy, no matter what you are doing. He is white with a hint of blond to the tips of his ears. He would do great with someone who has a fenced yard so he can run and play. He is a lively boy. My vet estimates him to be about 18 months old. You can contact me by email: PeteysmomB@aol.com.

SP (Standard Poodle) ownership...
by: Anonymous

I am so lucky. I've searched for a Standard for nearly two years (to adopt/rescue). The world has enough puppies. Since I live in Nthn Michigan, it was improbable a 'home check' happen. Therefore, I remained P-less (Poodle-less).

Then, out of heaven, after a phone call I found at anticrueltysociety.org or com... a SP.
Pitch black
female
spayed - microchipped
trained
13 mo.

I am in heaven itself. She is HIGH ENERGY! Wow! 60 lbs. Yikes. Worth every minute of effort... As a matter of fact, it's not effort... it's a pleasure to care for this creature..She does JUMP UP on guests! She demand attention. She does not jump on us (owners), but when the bell rings... She goes ballistic in a good way. Any suggestions?
Bless all who adopt - rescue

poodle adoption
by: Anonymous

Hi, felt I had to jump on. We adopted Fiona(now Molly ) by looking on Petfinder.com. Just keep looking everyday. I know it sounds silly but I am amazed at how many standards are up for adoption. We had to drive 7 hours to get Molly, but it was worth every minute. She was 6 months when we got her, and now is 11 months and still has lots of things to learn. Good Luck! don't give up! Cam
