The best dog in the world, Chippie

by Suzanne
(Dover, Kent, (UK))

There are so many memories of my Chippie. He shared the same birth date as me, 27th April (although he was born in 1996 and I was 1980.) He was the 2nd biggest puppy in the litter. I knew I was taking him home with me when I saw him and boy did I make the right choice. Beautiful; loyal; clever; graceful; gentle giant; happy; playful; clumsy; scared of thunder storms and fireworks; everybody’s friend; big feet; a big smelly blanket; bouncy; trusting. There were many things I told Chippie, many places we went to and we would walk so far. The funniest time was when we tried to head back from the nearest train station where we had ended up and I couldn’t get Chippie to the platform we needed, because he was too scared to walk up the steps with gaps in. (He could see how high he would have gone up). We ended up going to a phone box and calling my dad to come and get us, which we had done a few times, when we had been walking nearly all day and were too tired to walk home. We have many photos of Chippie. My Dad says, “He is the most photographed dog in the world.” That’s because we were so proud to have had such a lovely dog.

Chippie loved attention and fuss he even enjoyed me dressing him up in bows; ribbons; sunglasses; hats and t-shirts to name a few. We sat in one of our favourite places for quite sometime one day watching the world go by, I had doused Chippie in daisy chains and we walked home like it, everyone looking at my Chippie. He didn’t need to be wearing daisy chains to attract peoples attention though, he was the most gorgeous dog in the world.

There is so much I could write about Chippie, he gave me such happy times. It really is the end of a chapter for me, I really wish he could have lived as long as me, there won't be a day that goes by that I won't think of Chippie, I miss him so much. He took such a big part of my heart.

Chippie, if you can see or even understand this…

I love you always and miss everything about you.

I am sorry if there was anything I did wrong, it was never intended if I did.

I am ever grateful for the love you gave me.

Rest in peace now my Chip, I will see you again someday and we will play together just like we always did and I will blow raspberries on you again. xxxxxxxx
