So much for the puppies,We took the Mamas

Each week we would recieve a news paper called the Hunt County Shopper in our mail box. This particular week there was an ad that said "Poodles for sale or lease. That caught my eye,so I called them.I wanted to know how you could lease a dog.Well you lease a dog by taking a mama, and when she has puppies you give a puppy to the owner and then you get the AKC registration papers to the mama.So like an idiot I thought how sweet to raise some puppies, that very day my husband and I went to get us a mama.We got there and it was the nastiest place I had ever seen. Those mama dogs were filthy, skinny, and wormy. To make a long story short the woman,I won't say lady, had three mama dogs that wasn't producing large litters any more so she wanted to lease them out.Well we took all three mamas two white and one silver. They were 5 years old.We kept the silver one and found good homes for the other two.As of that day on those little mamas were no longer registered. We had them all spayed, that is after the vet charged us only for the medicine to get them well. They all had kennel cough, worms and fleas. We had our number changed and that woman never got her puppies. We had Silvie for 9 wonderful years. My children still call her thier sister.Shes been gone 8 years as of November 3 2009.She had breast cancer and althou we had a complete masectomy done, the cancer came back. She was to old and to tired to put her thru any more.So at 14 I had to put my baby,my best friend to sleep.I cried all the way there.I'm still crying. The vet said if she had been spayed as a 6 month old, her chances of getting cancer would have been next to none.Every time she came into heat her chances went up.She was bred every time she came into heat, that pushed her chances up even higher.I want you to know that little pooman, half poodle, half human, will never be forgotten.I love her and miss her,and will till the day I die.
