Scruffy Doodle, and Shasta Sirius.

My New Best Friend Shasta

My New Best Friend Shasta

Scruffy Doodle (Scruffy for short) was a Miniature poodle miniature schnauzer mix. We adopted him from a shelter, where we thought that he was in good health. They said that he was around 2-5 years old, so we expected to have him for a while. When he came home, I wasn't there. I was at a sleepover, and he was with my grandma down stairs. When I came home, I couldn't believe my eyes. It was a dog! I had always wanted one... it was a dream come true.

We started to notice that his eyes were cloudy, and that he seemed partially deaf, so we checked him out at a Petsmart vet, who told us that he had a burr stuck deep down in his left ear. We had it surgically removed. The eyes were a sign of blindness, which was unusual for a healthy dog. The vet tested Scruff, and told us that he was actually around 10-14 years old. I was told that he had a Brain Tumor, which would explain the seizures to come. It was way past surgery, and he only had a year or two to live.

One day I came home and everyone was crying. I asked them why. They said that scruffy had a massive seizure, and when he was hospitalized, he died before they could even lay him on the table. I was devastated.

Now I have a 3.5 Year old Miniature Poodle, Shasta Sirius. He is my best friend. I have a photo, and he is my life. He is epileptic, but I couldn't have asked for a better buddy.
