rescued a Teacup Poodle by the name of Lilly. Lilly came from a home that was owned by a very elderly lady who had 30 dogs in her home. 16 of them were of Poodle breed ranging from Teacup-Toy to Standard size. Lilly was then adopted out to a family that abused her and neglected her. They would not feed her for days. Then the groomers that I use had her. I first saw Lilly when I dropped my 6 month old puppy off at the groomers. She was the sweetest looking dog with a big smile. Although she was smiling her hair was thin and she looked frail. I knew the groomers were doing the best they could to provide for her. I picked Lilly up the following day. She was scared at first but after a couple of days she knew she was home. I took Lilly to the vet that I have been using with my other dog Gino. He updated her shots, took some tests and thoroughly examined her. They found out that she has Lyme Disease but it is curable. Lilly has another month and a half left with her Lyme disease treatment. Lilly also has very bad breath and rotten teeth. He said she has such rotten teeth and that is what is causing her bad breath. She has to have her teeth pulled and the infection cleaned out and possible bone bone material when she has completed her Lyme disease treatment. About a month later I noticed Lilly was limping. I took her to the vet. He said that she popped her knee out of place. He popped it back in and gave me some pain medication. She was fine after a couple of days. Yesterday I noticed she had the same leg completely up. She was only walking on 3 legs. I took her to the vet today and he said that her knee cap was out of place again but this time he could not get it back into place. He advised me to have a second opinion from a orthopedic vet. He diagnosed her with a grade 3-4 medial patella leexation. Which means her knee cap is moving to the inside/right. So it's like her knee is folding in. They would have to put pins or screws in her knee. He said that the operation would be a min of 1200 and a 6-8 week recovery. Between her teeth operation being a min of 500 (depending if Lilly will need bone material inserted into her mouth) and her Lyme disease medication being $30.00 per month, and the operation being a minimum of 1200.00 on top of the $500.00 I have already spent to have her shots updated, an exam and heart guard; this has become extremely costly. I just wanted to give her a loving and happy home. Even though Lilly has been through a lot in her years she has a lot of life and love to give. She has such a personality and is really the sweetest dog you will ever meet. Is there anyone that knows of an organization that could help with costs and expenses for Lilly's operation? I can handle the teeth but I am afraid the Orthopedic operation is too much for me. I live in NY. I would be willing to travel to save Lilly's life. Please help....
