Osca's Aussie Adoption

by Lisa
(Queensland Australia)

What a Star!

What a Star!

Osca is a 3 year old poodle who found his way into our home, hearts (and pantry!) out of the blue.

My husband and I had just bought our first home and were planning to get a dog. A lady I worked with mentioned that she saw a poster at her local post office offering a poodle to a loving home. We gave Oscas owner a call and found out that the mother of the family was ill and was unable to give him the kind of care she wanted to.

We arranged a time to meet him but when we got there they had pretty much decided that they wanted him to come home with us so we took him to his new home.

It was a sad time intially as I know his previous owners were reluctantly giving him away for his own good but he gradually adjusted to life with us.

He is timid with strangers. Initially it took him two weeks to get used to my husband or any male visitor. We have had a lot of people stay with us since we got him and each time he gets used to them in a shorter period of time.

We also have two budgies which he found interesting at first but does not even acknowledge their existence anymore.

He does have a sensitive stomach and skin and we are trying to help him with this.

He loves the beach, walks and especially food!

We think he is a beautiful dog and are so proud of him!
