My Wonderful Charlotte

by Jeannie
(California)

I just lost my Cream Standard Poodle, her name was Charlotte, she was 8 years old. In the last year she has been getting real finicky with her food choices and I kept trying to find different food that she would eat. She has always been a big water drinker too and maybe now looking back on it she did start to drink more water than usual but like I said she was always a big water drinker. Last week she started getting really sick and laying around alot so we took her to the vet and they ran tests and we found out that she was Renal Failure. They gave us no hope of her recovering and having any good quality of life because her levels were so high. I don't believe we will ever find another dog like her again. She literally peed and pooped on demand, we have 4 grandchldren ranging from 6 months to 14 years old and I trusted her completely with the children, she would share her bed with my l8 month old grandchild, my grandchld would lay on Charlotte in her bed. I am absolutely heart broken, my family wants me to get another dog now and I am so afraid that I will compare that new standard to Charlotte, I just don't think I will find another one that is so beautiful, well behaved, sweet, loving and devoted to our family. I miss her terribly.
