Re: Your loss of Charlote
by: Anonymous

Dear Jeannie,

We lost our beautiful silver standard poodle (12 1/2 years old) to "bloat" the day after Thanksgiving. We were devastated and will always be. That is when we found this website. We have since adopted two baby standard poodles, one silver and one red. Whereas no other dog can replace our love for our beloved 12 1/2 year old boy, these two boys have filled our home, and allow us to give our love to them. The emptiness that we experienced was just too GREAT......I joke and say that we had to get two dogs to fill the hole that our beautiful big boy left. We will ALWAYS feel the sadness for the loss of our love of our lives, but these two boys have been bringing so much joy....that I could not imagine a home without a standard or two. Go for it... jump right in and adopt another.....the new dog WILL NOT replace the old, however, you sound like you have so much love to give, and what better way to give it than to another dog, in the name of your old one......Good Luck...

My Wonderfu Charlotte
by: Helenl

My heart goes out to you and the loss of Charlotte,no one can know the pain if they haven't suffered it and I have so I know how you feel. Yes there will never be another Charlotte but there will be another dog that you will love,so give it some time and then find another dog you can give your love to and will return that love many times over. When I lost my Shadow to diabetes I thought NO MORE I CAN'T GO THRU THAT PAIN AGAIN,how foolish I was,I can never have Shadow again but I found my wonderful Lucy Lou and now have added a few more all rescues to the family, most are small but two are Cream Standard and they are also wonderful with children and especially ones with disabilites. Take care cry and grieve and then love again.

So sorry for your loss
by: Anonymous

How you must ache for Charlotte. I am feel so sad for you. Just hoping that you give yourself time. Such a tragic loss.

When our first poodle left us (to go to guide dog training), I was absolutely destroyed....We adopted our Fritzy, a red standard, 1 month later. He is the joy of our lives since he came 3 years ago. I never thought I could fill the hole in my heart when the first poodle left us...

Nothing can replace Charlotte but there is another beautiful poodle spirit waiting to meet you and love you when you are ready.
