My Best Friend

by Carolyn
(Tennessee)

He was so tiny when I first saw him a little ball of white fur five weeks old. I fell so in love with him. We had some wonderful times together and when he was a few months old, I decided to get a play mate for him and then another one. I loved them dearly but not like I did Buttons. He went every where with me that I could take him. He loved to watch TV. He wanted nothing to do with outside. He was a couch tator. The other two, Lady & Rusty loved to go out and play and get as dirty as possible, but Buttons didn’t like getting dirty he was a real prince and was treated like that for his long life of 23 years. I lost him last along with his brother Rusty 21 years and his sister Lady 23 years. Other than losing my mom, that was the hardest thing I have ever been through. I still cry for them and miss them so very much. My home was so empty, I couldn’t bare it. The next day my husband and I went to Petsmart and adopted a small mixed dog Peaches. We love her dearly, but she was no Poodle, so Peaches got two sisters, Black toy poodles. The were named Ebony & Lady Hover because she will eat up everything, and just a few months ago they have another sister Duchess a white standard Poodle. My house is a home again, but my heart is still with my little sweet Buttons. I visit him often and while I care for the flowers on his and his brother and sister’s graves, I tell him how different these guys are, and that I miss and love him so very much. He will also have a place in my heart.
