We have just lost our beloved Mercedes to bloat by: Pam
I'm so glad to see that you have gone on to adopt again. This weekend with such terrible suddeness our wonderful 9 year old adopted standard died of bloat. We just had her for 1 year and 1 month. She was my constant companion. Her official job was greeter at my office, a non profit foundation housing homeless singles and families.
My husband and I are grief stricken. Mercedes was so wonderful. When I first laid eyes on her via the internet I knew she was mine. I had never thought of having a poodle. What a smart, wonderful, athlete, fun loving friend she was.
I want to put out information on bloat. If I had known about it maybe her outcome would have been different or I could have taken precautions. My plan is to go to Pet Smart and other places and ask them to do an informational campaign on the devastating affliction. I'm going to call it Mercendes Alert.

So very sorry for your loss. Slate, my silver male survived his first episode of bloat, but he got bloat again three Septembers ago Two weeks later I had to put down, Ivory, my cream Standard. There is still a hole in my heart. Two weeks ago Sammy, my black Standard lost his battle with kidney failure. It hurts.

I'm so sorry for your loss. My darling dog also died from bloat unexpectedly. I know it has helped you having another wonderful standard to love even though nothing will replace the one you lost. Good luck and God bless.
