Max

Three years ago my family decided to get our first dog, a standard poodle. We drove for 4 hours to see this 6 month old poodle. I still remember how exited I was sitting in that couch waiting for the breeder to bring out this puppy which they had called puppy. When he came out I fell in love with him. We learned later in that day that Max was bought but then was brought back. The breeder said it was because they decided they didn’t want a puppy. We decided to buy him and on the ride home I thought of the name Max and everyone else loved it. I was only 8 years old when Max was brought home. We soon realized that he would vomit after he ate or drank anything so we decided to bring this 1,500 dollar puppy to the vet. We soon learned he was sick with a bowel dieses I think. Then it occurred to us that was why the breeder wouldn’t let us see any other puppies. His first year with us he was a shy, shy puppie and was very sick. He went for a operation and the doctors said he was going to be on medication for his whole life. We were very sad about this but we were not going to abandon him. He stayed very sick for about 2 years. Amazingly, when he was about 3 he started getting better fast. Now he is a healthy pup and instead of having about 3 meds a day now he gets 2 a week. I am 13 now and Max is 4 and I know how much it ment for him for us to take him in. He is super smart and has a great personality. He is such a trouble maker though. He loves to dig holes in the middle of the yard. He also figured out how to open the trash so he eats that but he is an amazing dog and very sweet. He is still pretty shy around people he doesn’t know but he brings joy to everyone he meets. I think Max is the best dog ever. I’m really glad I could share his story with everyone.
