Jacques- A success story

by Jacques' Mom
(Arizona)

Jacques and Gigi

Jacques and Gigi

About 3 years ago we rescued a standard male from a wonderful poodle rescue organization run by women doing wonderful work saving dogs in Arizona. Jacques had been very neglected and was turned into a shelter, whose personnel called the rescue angels who picked him up, got vet care and neutering for him. When we adopted him, he had been shaved to take off the matted hair since he had never been groomed and he weighed only about 35 lbs. He had been left outside in the blistering heat, had developed splayed feet and could barely run, although he tried so hard he often fell down. Since we already had another Standard who is the princess of the house, we were unsure how he was going to fit in. We had adopted several other smaller poodles through the years so we knew the poodle heart and energy would eventually come out in him.

He was so eager to please, eventually gained weight and developed an enormous amount of energy, normal with the breed. He can run like the wind and jump so high to catch tennis balls that it is astounding to see how far he has come. Today, he is Mister Personality, a joy to have around and the most grateful dog one could imagine. His adores our other Standard, Gigi, and they are the most intelligent dogs we have ever owned.
