"Gus" Sir Augustus of Sedrick a royal poodle

by Nancy King
(Libertyville, IL USA)

I have always been a dog lover, when I got divorced, my beloved cocker spaniel Kelly went to California to live as I traveled for my job. I was very lucky and found a wonderful man to marry. My Bill knew that I loved dogs, everytime we went to a car show and there was a dog, I would go up to the dag and talk to him just like he was a human. He saw that desire in me and bought me my black standard poodle Gus.
Gus became the love of our lives. We would travel up to our place in the UP of Michigan and he traveled like a trooper, staying awake to see all the horses and cows so he could talk to them. He was my husbands buddy he loved to join him to ride the jetski and would jump off the dock and swim out to Bill. He could'nt wait to see chippers the local chipmunk that would sit by the window and tease him. He went to work with us everyday and always greeted the UPS man and the Fedex women with a bark, tail wagging and of course sniffing their pockets looking for his treat which he always got. Gus got bloat, we don't know how or why, but after two operations we lost him.
We miss him more than words can say, his love was unconditional and he gave us such comfort from the daily stress of owning you own business.
God bless you Gus and thank you for being the best dog anyone could have.
