On the night John and Sherry came to visit me, they had been to church, as they did most every Wednesday.
They came to visit, and even though I had an application, I sugest that people give a lot of thought to adopting. We all enjoyed the time that night. I was pleased, to see they knew much about Poodles, in general.
They took Donnatello home that night but called me as soon as they were home to let me know they arrived safely and Donny was checking things out. I could hear the enjoyment and love for Donny even building on their first night.
Adopting an older dog with an unknown "History" is never easy. The Dog's background information would have helped them understand "Why" Donny has some of his habits.
Sherry called often, as I requested, to provide updates on Donny, as he began to settle in as a family member. By this time, I knew we were very lucky in our selection of John and Sherry, from reading over several applications. Yes, this was a true blessing for Donny.
Sherry continued to call as time passed on. It is always great to hear from her. Sherry has such an open and giving heart. I could feel the warm glow, just by listening. I knew her face must be just beaming as she told me about the dogs in their life.
This was also a golden time for me. This was the happy ending, every story should have.
Yes, even in death, this was a happy ending, even though, many tears were shed.
Dogs live only a short time. As humans, we know that their life will never be for as long as we would like. Donny was lucky enough to find John and Sherry and their family. He knew that special kind of love, that only a few of us every find.
Thank-you, both, so much, for everthing. You have given me the best memories, of Donny.

He sounds like he was a great little guy; I'm so happy he had you! The payback sounds enormous from rescuing an older dog with an injury; I'm sure he returned it many times over! Thanks for the story.
