I hope you find a sweet poodle to love by: Linda Wraith
Coco died on November 18, 2008. She told me she had reached the top of the mountain and it would be down hill now. I respected her wishes (she was 15+) and held her as she took her last breath. I was left alone with Lucas, my eight year old big bundle of joy. He was okay at first but when he became more and more depressed and lethargic I knew I had to do something, anything to find a pack member for him. On Easter Day, 2009, I took a ferry ride with Lucas to meet a funny little toy poodle in rescue at R.E.D. (rescue every dog). It was raining harder than the shower in your bathroom except it was cold and muddy. Lucas and I were tired and confused. The skinny little white boy may have been overwhelmed but he had dignity and determination. We loaded him into the back of my Green-Bean Forester and returned to the mainland.
It's been four weeks now and Lucas (big black boy) and Westly (scrawny little white guy) are becoming fast friends. They poodle -and-kanoodle each other. Lucas nuzzles Westly's neck and he just smiles and sighs. I will always miss Coco, but life is good now with Lucas and Westly.
Good things come in small packages.

Wonderful Standard Poodles! by: Anonymous
I adopted a 1 yr old black Standard female in 1994 from our local animal shelter. She had been in at least 2 other homes so I didn't know what to expect. The first night I slept on the sofa so I could get to the front door in case she had to go outside. Her original name was Peggy Sue but I called her Suzie. She was a great companion - so smart & loving! She died in April 2008 at age 15. My heart was broken. I still miss her. I'd love to have another Standard. I'm a 72 yr old widow & cannot afford to pay hundreds of dollars so I go on the internet hoping to find one nearby that needs a loving home. Maybe I'll find one someday.
