Carolina Poodle Rescue

by Janie Lawing
(Hendersonville, N.C.)

We went to Mt. Vernon, Ky to see a white standard poodle. We found Candy. We were told she was socially immuture. What does that mean? -- would she bite someone, is she not good with other dogs, I wondered. My husband did everything he could to get her to bite him and she wouldn't. When we were going to take her back inside, she jumped into our car and would not get out. It was like she was saying, "get me out of here." We took her home to Hendersonville, N.C. She has been with us for the past 7 years. She is wonderful, but does have some quirks. She kills rabbits and squirrls, birds, whatever. She looks out of the window constantly, to see if there are any critters she needs to take care of. We have another dog named Noggin who is a boxer. They get along fine. My husband has his boxer and I have my poodle. We love them very much. Janie Lawing.
