Bark Central Dog Park - Inverness, Florida

by CR
(Crystal River, FL)

Many people wanted a public dog park in Citrus County, Florida, and the local government promised one. It took several years and even though the citizens wanted it, the town planners and county government dismissed it. Unfortunately there is a culture clash between the old ways of viewing a dog as a farm animal and those that have come from the north or the city and view dogs as family members.

One company decided that they didn't think the citizens should wait several more patient years and opened up a dog park as a private business.

Bark Central is a beautiful park with non- chlorinated pools for dogs to swim in, a fifteen acre off-leash area, dirt piles to dig in, training yards to use for sessions, and much more. After play, there are indoor and outdoor bathing areas.

The cost may be prohibitive to some at $300 per year for the first dog and $50 for each additional dog for family or $30 a month plus $5 each additional dog. It is worth it for those that go frequently but they offer no option to try it out for the day, or if you are only visiting the area for a week.
