your adopted puppy
by: Anonymous

from my experience, puppies will try to eat anything and everything. feeding him 3 times a day with appropriate treats/snacks inbetween is not unusual. his body is growing so he needs the nutrition. he could be experiencing some anxiety also - you said his original owner had no time for him, correct? well we know the std poodle is a people dog who needs the interaction and love and attention and exercise and play time with their owners. he could be anxious as a result of not getting enough of this. if he's anxious, he will eat dirt and shoes and socks, etc etc. getting vet checked is a must also

Get him checked
by: Darlene

Hi, my advice is to have him checked out by a good vet. We have 2 Standards and they always have food available to them. At first they would eat all the time, but once they knew they had no worries about eating, they only eat if needed. We have always fed the a mix of Bil-Jac and Athority. 1 is 6 and the other is 5 and have never had a bad check up. Please have your dog checked out and since he is a puppy, he is just going through his teens. Ride your bike and leash up your dog and let him exercise. Don't go too fast nor too fast.

Baily
by: Terry from Australia

Hi Emily, glad Baily has found a home, it is unusual for Standard Poodles to be glutons, have you checked him for worms. His eating dirt can also indicate that he is in need of a mineral suppliment, have you had him checked out by a vet good luck and lots of good times with Baily regards Terry,Oscar and Priscilla from Australia.
