Archie Rescued Us

by mathew
(CT)

12 years ago, to the day, we adopted Archie from a breed rescue in Los Angeles, CA. Two brother-in-laws each had a silver standard and decided to mate them. They ended up with 7 black pups and could not sell them. The entire litter ended up in breed rescue. Archie chose me, by coming up to me and hitting me with his paw (and he continued to do that every time he wanted something for the next 12 years). We just lost him (at 12 1/2) to "bloat". We are DEVASTATED. We would love to adopt another standard, possibly two. Does anyone have any leads on male black/silver/blue who might need a GREAT home. We do everything with our children. We have three boys (12, 15, 22) who LOVE this breed. We have NEVER kenneled a dog. We vacation, shop, sleep, eat, live and breathe with our four-legged children. We have been known to take our dog on the train to NYC (Metro North allows this; they are just not allowed on the subways) Right now we have no other pets in the house. We live in the country in Connecticut. We are broken-hearted and have all the love in the world to devote to another standard, or two...
