I have a beautiful white male standard poodle he is from a very reputable breeder and his mom is a grandchampion..My husband passed away young of cancer last year.I had to sell our home and move to a condo. We had lived on a large property.I also had to send my two pugs (my poodles sisters)to live with my husbands mother. Then my poodle stayed with his dog groomer for 4 months while I got resettled.
I am now in a 1 bdrm apt...I have a lady take my dog running everyday for 2 hours at a off leash park or the beach with 5 other dogs.I work at home and seldom go out but when I do Jaunty barks frantically.I have tried rescue remedy,bio-calm to no avail...and am now on my second behavioral specialist. The barkbusters program has been a big help.I am facing a hearing from my strata group..and am now trying clomicalm as well as training.I refuse to use a barking collar as I feel it will make the situation worse.I would appreciate comments.By the way my dogs name means (dapper young French gentleman)..in every other way he is my soul mate.I will not give him up as he is all I have left of my former life.

poodle lover by: Anonymous
Just read all the stories... I too am a devoted SP lover. I grew up with 3 of them and have 2 now. One is from a breeder and the other is a rescue. Yes, it does take time with the rescue! It has taken me 2 years for Duchess to trust me but a love with the capital L. She adores her sister Princess. There is hope but you do need the time. I am thankful to read that there are people out there who rescue these poodles. I absolutely couldn't want a better breed!

Belle by: Sally
Poor Belle! Separation anxiety is very hard on the dog and the owner. I had a standard female with this and eventually she got over it and became the perfect dog. Everyone said so. It sounds to me if you got another dog as a companion for Belle it might help. Dogs grieve just like humans and it hurt her to lose her friend Wally. I pray that you can work it out with Belle and if not she gets a good home.

Annabelle... by: Anonymous
Audrey:
So sorry about Annabelle's inability to adapt to life --YET. Sounds like this little girl just got toss into life, ignored, a wild child.
I'm a SP (Standard Poodle) owner, and a well trained hyped SP is a handful sometimes. I'm sure you've seen debbiewilson3@sbcglobal.net
They are looking for a girl. My heart goes out to you and mostly Annabelle. Sounds like she was 'Mommy deprived' (those monster puppy millers do that ----prematurely separate from Mom to start a new litter) GRRRRRRR.. Anyway, she needs a chance in life... don't give her to ANYONE! She'll always suffer. Give her to an experienced SP person, who has 24/7 to indoctrinate Bell to a life all dogs should have.
I'm in Traverse City, Michigan, and in animal placement. Been doing that over 20 yrs. also in Sthn Calif. We match owners with pets, but we are not fanatics about it. If you absolutely feel the need to give Bell away... please contact me, and I know a few up here that would possibly be interested. She would get 24/7 ... constant attention to training etc.
