A Tribute to Blue

by Nani
(Kapolei, Hawaii)

Blue & Shay

Blue & Shay

We got Blue when she was 8 weeks old. She was a purebred Blue nose pitbull and she was beautiful. We found her at the pound along with the rest of the liter. When we walked into the holding pen 10 little pitbulls came running up to us. The 11th pup stayed in the back eating from their food bowls, I naturally had to have the smart pup #11. We got Blue to keep our 12 week old pup Honey (also from the pound and on her 2nd strike) company. Honey didn't like Blue at first but after much training and bending on Blue's part they became sisters.

2 months ago our beloved Blue died. She was 9 years old. My Honey is so sad she doesn't understand what happend. Blue had a very aggressive cancer. We were on her 7th surgery which happend once a month. I am 44 and this was my first pets, so Blue dying rocked my very world. My 3 year old grand-daughter took it better then I did. The night before Blues last surgery, I prayed to God. I said Lord if you feel she has suffered enough please take her. My vet called me in the morning and said Blue had made it through the surgery fine but when he arrived in the morning she had passed. He said he didn't know what happend, but I did. God had answered my prayer. I miss her terribly.

2 Days ago we got another pet no one wanted. A cute American Bulldog, who has a skin condition breeders don't like. They were going to put him down. I took him because I thought, how terrible to put this pup down because he wont sell for $1500 like the rest. He's not my Blue and I admit to feeling guilt, especially since Honey doesn't like him very much. My hubby said they will bond in time. We're talking it slow.

No dog can possibly replace my beautiful blue. She was the sweetest pitbull you'd ever meet. Never bit a soul in her life. She was a steller role model for all PitBulls.

I love you baby boo and mama misses you terribly.
